Advice for businesses which have remained open

As restriction reduce and more businesses are permitted to open it is strongly recommended those in close proximity to other businesses, particularly the retail, banking and hospitality sector, engage with neighbouring businesses to ensure that queueing systems are appropriately organised, planned and managed. The modifications that may have already been made due to COVID-19 may require reviewing, to maintain their effectiveness as neighbouring businesses re-open. Current queueing systems, for example, may be working well at the moment but may impact on other businesses entrances or exits and will need to be reviewed should they be planning to reopen. As further businesses open, you may need to co-ordinate with a number of your neighbours to ensure that queues do not merge and pedestrian flows are maintained across the front of businesses.

If your business is located in a managed shopping centre or arcade you may wish to (if you have not already been doing so) consult with the management company which oversees the centre or arcade to ensure that there are suitable and sufficient measures in place to enable social distancing to take place.

You should update your COVID-19 Secure risk assessment to reflect any changes which are required as a result of alterations to your queueing system.
