Bedford College art and photography HND students have been broadening their horizons in terms of exhibition spaces.

In addition to displaying their work in the South Banks Arts Centre on the riverside campus of Bedford College, they have been moving into the town centre.

Students put their work on show across two floors at the pop-up BedPop shop in the High Street. Others took over the Rock City Art shop in the Castle Quay area just behind the High Street – they called it the Raw Photography Show.

Included in the BedPop display was the work two design students who have won a national award in the Youth Creative Network with their creative for Standard Life.

Hannah Hughes and Tiffany Trethowan, who graduate this summer, beat entrants from across the UK in the competition.

Bedford College Advanced Practitioner Jeffery Tribe said: “This is the fifth year in a row that Bedford College students have achieved this accolade for the ‘You Can Now’ organisation. It demonstrates that our students leave her with skills ready to work for the multi-billion arts industry.”

Hannah and Tiffany will be presented with their awards at a special ceremony at the Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel in London in September.
