Beware the Dragon on Bedford High Street

There were more than a few double-takes in Bedford High Street on Saturday as A Knight Named Clover came to town, complete with a medieval knight and an inflatable dragon!

If you were in the town centre between noon and 3pm on Saturday you may have seen the pair, accompanied by author Iain Row, handing out flyers and promotional toys. It was all in service of a book signing at Rogan’s Books, where Iain signed copies of his new book, A Knight Named Clover, and read the story aloud.

“There are only 2,000 copies in the first print run,” explained Iain, “so book signings are a way to make them extra-special. It was really nice to meet all the people who braved the rain to join us.”

A Knight Named Clover tells the story of a princess who is raised by her father to be a knight. When a dragon attacks their village, however, he refuses to let her fight it.

“As it’s told entirely in rhyme, it’s great fun to read aloud,” explained Iain, “which is a good job, since I’ve probably been asked to read it every day since its publication last month!”

“I spent a lot of time in schools while I was working on it, asking teachers to read it to their class with no prior preparation. These stories are generally read by parents and grandparents, so I wanted to make it easy to read from the first time they picked it up,” he added.

You can pick up one of the limited first edition books from Rogan’s Books in Castle Lane, or from
