The Bedford Kite and Motoring Festival is back! Taking place on Saturday 21st June and Sunday 22nd June 2025, 10am-4pm each day.
The Bedford Kite and Motoring Festival, a free family festival, will be held across Russell Park, The Embankment, and Mill Meadows.
The festival will include:
- Professional kite flying displays in the arena, from the beautiful and elegant to the playful and gigantic
- Bedford Festival of Motoring with over 200 vehicles spanning from today to a century old, plus a cavalcade running each day and the ‘Blues Lights’ display area
- Our teams behind the Year of Reading, delivering children’s craft activities and readings, as well as performances from renowned authors and illustrators in the Year of Reading tent
- Our SEND Team providing an inclusion activity area
- Our Sports Development Team collaborating with GLL and Spiral Free Running to provide a range of sports for visitors to try
- Live music at the Mill Meadows bandstand and in the Green Earth Vegan Lounge
- Canoe Trail: Come and try water sports on the river or a climbing wall on the land
- Green Earth Café returning with their Green Earth Vegan Lounge, vegan market and festivities
- Sue Ryder Dragon Boat Racing, taking place on the Sunday
- John Bunyan Boat offering River Cruises
The festival will also have fair rides, inflatables, trade stalls, bars, and a variety of catering options.

New for 2025, car parking will be available close to the site for those who are unable to reach the event by walking, wheeling, cycling, or by public transport. This will be in Mill Meadows Car Park and Meadow, Longholme Way, Bedford, MK42 0BQ at a cost of £5 per vehicle (card payment only). Find other parking options, including four hours free parking at Allhallows and Lurke Street car parks on Saturday, and local free parking on Sunday all day in council-owned town centre car parks at www.bedford.gov.uk/parking
