One of the UK’s largest free outdoor events, the Bedford River Festival is a biennial celebration attracting over 250,000 visitors. The festival features boat races, live music, food stalls, and family-friendly activities along the River Great Ouse.​

Held biennially, the Bedford Kite and Motoring Festival is a vibrant celebration of community spirit and family entertainment. Scheduled for 21–22 June 2025, the festival will take place across Russell Park, The Embankment, and Mill Meadows. NBCUniversal, through its Universal Destinations & Experiences division, is exploring the creation of a flagship entertainment resort right here in Bedford. Bedford boasts excellent rail connectivity, with direct trains to London St Pancras International taking around 45 minutes. The town is also connected to other major cities like Brighton, Gatwick Airport, and Nottingham.

Bedford Railway Station, located on Ashburnham Road, is the town’s primary rail hub. The station offers the following amenities
