Bedford Creative Arts (BCA) Community Portrait Exhibition

The Higgins Bedford

The FREE Community Portrait exhibition explores the history of photography, from 1840s glass-plate techniques, current digital techniques, and to a potential future involving AI. This exciting exhibition features images taken by local school-age children, Bedford College students, community groups and professional photographers. Co-produced by Bedford Creative Arts, in partnership with Fujifilm, it showcases the Bedford community through their own portraits, whilst inviting the viewer to reflect on the art of image-making through the decades and beyond.

This project is supported by Arts Council England, The Wixamtree Trust, The Steel Charitable Trust and sponsored by Fujifilm.

The Norman Conquest of Britain witnessed the introduction of castles to the landscape and a major castle in Bedford was built in the 12th century. Walk through the old castle grounds, see the mound on which it once stood and hear the story of the castle and its demise in the siege of 1224.
