Former Bond Girl Madeline Smith is set to light up the stage this Saturday, 1st November, with her hauntingly beautiful new live show Frankenstein Unchained! at The Quarry Theatre in Bedford.
Known to millions as Miss Caruso – the first Bond girl of Roger Moore’s era in Live and Let Die – Madeline is now turning her attention from spies to the supernatural, taking audiences deep into the dark heart of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
The one-woman show combines Madeline’s elegant narration with an evocative live score from composer Jason Frederick, inspired by the golden age of Hammer and Universal horror. The result is part gothic theatre, part cinematic concert – a spellbinding tribute to classic horror storytelling.
“I’ve always loved the atmosphere of those old horror films,” Madeline says. “There’s something both beautiful and tragic about Frankenstein’s story – it’s about loneliness, ambition, and what it really means to be human.”
It’s a fitting project for a woman who’s lived many lives on screen and stage. From starring alongside comedy legends like Frankie Howerd to sharing scenes with Bond himself, Smith’s career has been a masterclass in versatility. Yet she remains as gracious and grounded as ever – quick to laugh, happy to reminisce, and still captivated by the magic of performance.
And, of course, as a member of Bond royalty, she’s more than qualified to weigh in on those ever-present casting rumours. With speculation swirling about who the next Bond girl might be, Smith offers a glimpse behind the curtain: “It’s not just about glamour – it’s about presence. A real Bond girl needs wit, strength, and that spark that keeps audiences guessing.”
Frankenstein Unchained! Live with Madeline Smith promises a night of music, mystery, and movie nostalgia – a gothic experience that celebrates both the power of storytelling and the timeless appeal of British horror.
