Transformation – shape-shifting, metamorphosis – has been a vital part of storytelling from the earliest epics to modern fantasy, and in all cultures. Sometimes the transformation is no more than a trick to help the character, but here Mark offers four stories where physical change grows naturally from the circumstances.
