The historic Olney Pancake Race in the Market Place is taking place this Pancake Day on Tuesday 17th February. Dating back in some form to the 15th century, the tradition sees competitors sprint 415 yards through the town while flipping pancakes in a frying pan.
The morning and early afternoon feature pancake breakfasts, cookery demonstrations, children’s races, fun activities and a variety of stalls. Visitors can enjoy hot pancakes, tea, children’s entertainment and a lively market atmosphere from early morning, as well as a special shriving service at midday for those wishing to take part in the traditional side of the day.
