What is Bedford BID?
A Business Improvement District, or BID, is an arrangement under which businesses plan how to improve their own trading environment. BedfordBID is funded by those in the area paying a levy of 2% of the rateable value of their business. The levy is ring-fenced and spent by The BedfordBID on projects and services agreed by the businesses in the scheme.
The BedfordBID’s projects and services range from creating a cleaner and safer environment to marketing and promotion to attract new visitors to the town. The BedfordBID Champions – Champs – help make the town centre a safer and friendlier place to be for shoppers and workers alike. The BID works in partnership with Bedford Borough Council and Bedford Police, and run the Retail Radiolink scheme to help businesses train their staff in radio operation and crime prevention.
The BedfordBID’s promotional campaigns, town centre events and entertainment make it fun and easy for everyone to experience Bedford. The BedfordBID also manages and co-ordinates the town centre’s voucher scheme, comprehensive events listings, and sister site www.lovebedfordoffers.co.uk.
