A Very Merry Bedford Christmas Market Weekender is a two-day celebration of all things Bedford on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd December, brought to you by Love Bedford, the team behind Bedford Flea, Affordable Art & Local Produce Market, and Bedford Markets.
You’ll feel a buzzing Christmas atmosphere with well over 100 local businesses popping up across the weekend throughout the town centre, including all three market squares.
Festivities will include live music, street food, mulled wine, antiques, vintage, art and crafts, gifting, locally produced food and drink, flowers, wreaths plus the much-anticipated return of the Love Bedford Express Land Train Ride.
Mayor Tom Wootton says, “This will be an exciting and much sought after addition to the Christmas calendar in our town. I’m pleased to see all three organisations working together to really put Bedford on the map this Christmas time”.
Sponsored by BedfordBID, funded by town centre businesses, Director Christina Rowe says, “With so much recent transformation and development in the town centre, we are very pleased to not only be sponsoring this event, but to be playing a part in showcasing and promoting our hard-working local shops and services which contribute to Bedford’s identity as part of this new event. It is especially fitting that this event falls on Small Business Saturday too on 2nd December ”.
The hugely popular Bedford Flea, Affordable Art & Local Produce Market will form the base of the market, so you will find Flea, Local Produce, Street Food, and live music in Harpur Square.
And over on Riverside Square there will be an Affordable Art & Makers tent full of talented local artists, jewellers, and ceramicists.
The council’s own Bedford Markets will be hosting a festive craft and gift fair from the Harpur Suite alongside seasonal entertainment throughout the town and the weekly Charter Market on St. Paul’s Square and Midland Road.
After the huge success of last year’s Love Bedford Express Land Train Ride, BedfordBID are excited to announce the train is returning to ‘Silver Square Station’ as part of A Very Merry Bedford Christmas Market Weekender! With pretty bubbles floating skywards from the engine and cheery Christmas tunes belting out along the way, everyone will enjoy this unique journey along Midland Road and back to the Silver Faces. Oh what fun it is to ride…the fun, free, Love Bedford Express Land Train, which is provided by Bedford’s town centre businesses.
A Christmas weekend is not complete without a visit to Santa! Little ones will be able to visit the jolly man himself at the Christmas Grotto in the Harpur Centre basement.
And don’t forget that parking at Allhallows Multi-Storey Car Park is free of charge for 4 hrs all week, until February 2024. Plus, parking is free all day on Sundays as part of the town-wide initiative for free parking in council run car multi-storey car parks every Sunday.
