Easter Holiday activities at The Higgins Bedford celebrate Earth Day
As part of the Easter school holidays, The Higgins Bedford is excited to announce a range of interactive activities, designed to promote sustainability and environmental awareness, as part of the build-up to Earth Day 2025. These workshops, taking place from Tuesday 8 to Thursday 17 April, are specifically crafted to encourage children to think creatively about reducing waste, reusing everyday items, and recycling.
“We are delighted to offer these engaging activities for children of all ages at The Higgins Bedford, which not only provide fun for children during the Easter holidays but also inspire them to take care of our planet,” said Councillor Sarah Gallagher, Portfolio Holder for Customer Experience, Leisure and Culture at Bedford Borough Council “These workshops, reflect our commitment to fostering a sustainable future and empowering the next generation to make a positive impact on the environment.”
The activities include hands-on projects such as creating mini landfills to understand waste management, upcycling origami flowers from junk mail, crafting insect-inspired art with the Wildlife Trust, making recycled collage badges, and creating bee hotels and recycled sea creatures. These sessions are designed for children aged 5-12 years, with some activities suitable for younger participants.
Workshops and activities at The Higgins Bedford often book up very quickly during school holidays and it is recommended places are booked as soon as possible. Each workshop costs £5.50 per child and there will be three workshops a day from Tuesday-Friday and then Tuesday-Thursday.
Earth Day is on Tuesday 22 April and the theme is ‘Our power, our planet’. The aim is to invite everyone from around the globe to unite behind renewable energy, and to triple the global generation of clean electricity by 2030.
