Bedford Borough Council is pleased to announce that a large community effort has resulted in the opening of over 40 warm spaces for residents, with even more to come.
These warm spaces, located throughout the Borough including all the local libraries and some of the Children’s Centres, provide a warm welcome, free hot drinks, and community activities for people of all ages to enjoy without any cost.
Cllr Louise Jackson, Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing, expressed her gratitude towards the volunteers, saying, “We are grateful to all volunteers for their enthusiastic and positive commitment, which is helping so many of our residents. As a Council, we are committed to keep everyone warm and well this winter.”
Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, encourages residents to visit these warm spaces adding, “I urge you to visit your local warm space this winter and see what’s on offer. This is a great opportunity for all the family to get involved in your community, meet new people, and spend time in a welcoming space this winter. There are warm spaces all across the Borough, with new ones opening this new year, so do go down and get involved.”
