Bedford Borough Council is thrilled to announce the official opening of a brand-new attraction to Russell Park in Bedford – a 12-hole accessible mini golf course! This exciting project replaces the existing grass course, transforming it into a year-round, all-weather facility that caters to families and visitors of all ages.
This innovative course goes beyond mere entertainment. Each hole has been uniquely designed to represent iconic Bedford Borough landmarks, offering a playful introduction to the area’s rich history. There were some delays in the construction of the course due to the wet weather, as the team strived for the highest standards of playability. The new course is now open and being enjoyed by both local residents and visitors from further afield.
Cllr Sarah Gallagher, Portfolio Holder for Customer Experience, Leisure and Culture, said, “We’re excited to introduce this venture that combines leisure with local history. Families can enjoy a fun game while learning about landmarks from across Bedford Borough.
“Alongside the course, we have also been able to create an area perfect for a picnic after a round of golf!”
The all-weather course means that residents and visitors are able to enjoy a round of mini golf throughout the year, regardless of the weather. This translates to increased park usage and more opportunities for families and friends to create lasting memories in Russell Park.
The Council has partnered with the renowned mini-golf course designers, Urban Crazy, to ensure a fun and engaging experience for all skill levels. Additionally, The Kiosk at Russell Park will play a key role in managing and operating this exciting addition.
Thomas Healey, co-owner of The Kiosk Russell Park, welcomes the development, and said, “The existing course gets good use in the summer, but struggles with upkeep. This new design is more compact, accessible year-round, and requires less maintenance. We’re excited to offer discounted family packages combining mini golf with a ride on the Longholme dragon boats – another unique local activity we manage.”
Prices include a team scorecard, a putter and a ball for each person playing. For a round of play through all twelve holes, it is £7.60 for those aged 13 and above, £6 for those aged 3 to 12 and just £3 for anyone younger.
There are also group discounts available, offering a round for two people at £12 and a round for four people at £24. Anyone under 13 must be supervised by a paying adult. Visit https://kioskinthepark.com for more information, including the walk-up price rate and any discount information.
The new mini golf course is a fantastic addition to Russell Park, promoting family fun, local pride, and year-round enjoyment. Bedford Borough Council is excited to introduce this exciting new attraction, welcoming residents and visitors alike!
