ULTRA:5K 2026 – Entries now open for the 10th outing for a local running challenge

Runners of all abilities are being invited to take part in ULTRA:5K 2026, a unique running event that promises an unforgettable challenge and an amazing atmosphere for participants and spectators alike.

ULTRA:5K is designed to be more than just a standard 5K. Whether you are a seasoned runner chasing a new goal or someone looking for a fresh and motivating challenge, ULTRA:5K offers something truly different.

The format is simple… but incredibly challenging! There are 3 individual race options at ULTRA:5K 2026:

  • Individual ULTRA:5K x10
Starting at 4am, run 10 x 5K races, on the hour, every hour, for 10 hours.
  • Individual ULTRA:5K x5
Starting at 9am, run 5 x 5K races, on the hour, every hour, for 5 hours.
  • Individual ULTRA:5K x3
Starting at 11am, run 3 x 5K races, on the hour, every hour, for 3 hours.

The staggered start times for each distance ensure everyone starts their final lap at the same time, leading to a fantastic atmosphere at the finish line.

The organisers, Ken Parsons and Andrew Metcalfe, are encouraging early sign-ups as interest in the 2026 event is already building. Participants can expect a professionally organised race experience, a supportive environment, and a strong community feel that celebrates personal achievement as much as performance. Included in the entry price for the event, which takes place on an off-road, fully marked course, is all the nutrition and hydration the runners will need, as well as sports massage on hand to loosen those aching limbs, as well as a bespoke finishers medal and chip timing.

Speaking about the event, Race Director Ken Parsons said, “ULTRA:5K is unique race that incorporates strategy and planning into your running. It’s an event designed to push boundaries and feel part of something special. We want runners from the local area and beyond to join us and be part of ULTRA:5K 2026.”

Entries are now open for the event, which takes place on Sunday 12th July at Box End Park, Kempston, Bedfordshire.
