Mayor Tom Wootton was honoured to attend the re-opening ceremony of Specsavers at Harpur Centre on Monday, 18th of March. The event celebrated the completion of a comprehensive refurbishment spanning three floors.
The newly revamped store boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a ground floor dual-purpose assessment room designed to accommodate both visual and audio evaluations. Notably, these facilities are accessible to all, catering to individuals with pushchairs and mobility challenges.
Mayor Tom said, “Specsavers has been an integral part of the Bedford community for over three decades, serving its residents with dedication and excellence since 1991.”
Dame Mary Perkins, the visionary founder of Specsavers, whose pioneering spirit laid the foundation for the brand’s remarkable journey over the past 40 years, opened the store along with Jeff Banks, esteemed fashion designer and creator of one of the designer ranges featured in the store.
Mayor Tom remarked, “It was great to meet the team and see their fantastic new space – it is welcoming, modern and most importantly, accessible. Specsavers provides the local community with vital services to contribute towards the wellbeing of every one of Bedford Borough’s residents.”
Elizabeth Stewart FBDO Retail Director added, “Today was a wonderful celebration. We have been lucky enough to serve this fabulous community for the past 33 years and our newly refurbished store will provide a welcoming environment to serve all our customers, new and old, for many years to come.”
