Bedford Borough Bursting with Family Fun This February Half Term

This February half term, families in Bedford won’t have to travel far to find something fun to do. From hands-on craft workshops and museum discoveries to high-energy inflatables and peaceful park walks, there’s plenty happening across town to keep children entertained and parents inspired.

Bedford’s much-loved museums (The Higgins Bedford, John Bunyan Museum and Panacea Museum) are all open during the school break, giving families the perfect excuse to step inside and explore something new. At The Higgins, children can get stuck into creative half-term workshops including Clay Puffin sessions, a lively Circus Skills Spectacular and free drop-in craft activities throughout the week.

Bedford’s libraries are another brilliant (and free) option this half term. With LEGO clubs, craft activities, board games and story sessions taking place across local branches, they offer more than just books – although there are plenty of those to discover too. It’s a great opportunity to visit a different library, find a new favourite series, and enjoy some quiet creative time together.

For children who need to burn off some energy, the K.J. Fundays Indoor Inflatable sessions at the Bedford International Athletic Stadium promise big smiles and even bigger bounces. Packed with inflatable slides, obstacle courses and fun challenges, it’s an ideal way for younger children to stay active, whatever the weather.

Older children can also join in Special Quiz and Bingo sessions at the Central Family Hub in Allhallows offer teenagers a chance to meet friends, enjoy a bit of friendly competition and take part in activities designed especially for them in a relaxed, welcoming space.

And of course, sometimes the simplest days out are the best ones. Priory Country Park is perfect for lakeside walks, wildlife spotting and letting off steam in the open air, while Bedford Park remains a firm family favourite with its playground, open space and room for scooters and ball games. Wrap up warm, grab a takeaway hot drink and enjoy some fresh air together.

For those who prefer indoor fun, local leisure facilities are also running family swim sessions during the holiday, giving children the chance to splash, play and stay active.

With so much happening across Bedford, this half term is shaping up to be full of creativity, community and simple family moments. Whether it’s crafting, bouncing, swimming or exploring the outdoors, there’s something for everyone right here in town. Families are encouraged to check individual venue websites for opening times and booking details before visiting.
